Quincy pays county to clean malware off police computer

“The village council Tuesday night agreed to repay Branch County $13,400, the cost of a cyber security investigation after a village patrol car was infected with downloaded computer malware. “

“An officer downloaded a zip file containing a JavaScript malware virus into the police car computer tied to the county central dispatch system. “

“"Our computers were immediately disconnected from 911's network and were shut down" until the county cyber security firm reviewed the system to make sure there was no danger, Butler said. “
