The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) identified phishing as the most prevalent US cyber threat in 2020, affecting nearly a quarter of a million victims. Globally, 75% of organizations were hit with phishing attempts. In the US alone 65% of organizations experienced a successful phishing attempt. Cyber threats who engage in phishing activity conduct extensive research to specifically target individuals and organizations with carefully crafted subject lines, email content, text, or voicemail content to trick their victims into taking an action. These threat actors are copious students of psychology and human behavior which makes this attack methodology so successful. Be aware and don’t take the bait!
