Breach affects 400,000 patients at Texas hospital

“In April, hackers breached the IT network of CentroMed, a healthcare provider based in San Antonio, Texas, compromising the protected health information of 400,000 patients. “

“On May 1, CentroMed said it detected unusual activity in its IT network. This prompted the healthcare organization to launch an investigation into the incident. “

“Names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account information, medical records numbers, health insurance information, diagnosis and treatment information and claims data may have been involved, according to a press release from CentroMed. “
