“Officials from the Matagorda County Office of Emergency Management reported Wednesday that the county has drawn closer to a full recovery from a cyberattack that impacted county operations weeks ago.“
“Matagorda County Public Information Officer Mitch Thames said the last remaining computers and laptops are being installed, and that the county’s IT team is “working diligently to reconnect printers and other hardware systems.” MCOE anticipates it will take approximately two more weeks to restore all systems to 100%. “
“Thames said the county appreciates the “tremendous support” it has received from the State of Texas, including the Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Emergency Management, and the Department of Information Resources during this crisis. “
“The county acknowledges the downtime since Jan. 24 and has pledged its dedication for a full recovery to its residents and services customers. Thames said the timing of the attack wasn’t “ideal” as it happened only a week before tax bills were due. “
