“Public schools in Durham will be offline on Monday after an event compromised computer systems. The Durham District School Board said in a press release the board is recovering from a “cyber-incident” that first came to its attention on Friday. While the school board said it has reported the incident to police, the school board did not share what the “cyber-incident” was.“
“The school board’s phone and email services are not working and all online learning and literacy tests will be cancelled. “
“The school board said its Chromebooks, laptops that run on Google’s Chrome operating system, may not work. In-person schooling and child care services will still be open, the release said, but schools may not have access to students’ emergency contact information. The school board is asking parents to send children to school with emergency contact information. The school board added community use of schools permits will continue.“
