Wyoming County Community Health System Announces Data Breach Affecting More than 24,000 Patients

“Wyoming County Community Health System (“WCCHS”) filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Maine after discovering that files stored on WCCHS’s network were subject to unauthorized access.“

“In this notice, WCCHS explains that the incident resulted in an unauthorized party being able to access consumers’ sensitive information, which includes their names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, dates of birth, biometric data, medical information and health insurance information, and account numbers.“

“The WCCHS investigation confirmed that some files on its computer network may have been accessed and copied by an unauthorized party. After learning that sensitive consumer data was compromised, Wyoming County Community Health System reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, driver’s license or state identification number, date of birth, biometric data, medical information and health insurance information, and account number.“
