“Montclair Township in New Jersey has been hit by a cyber attack, Mayor Sean Spiller reported on June 6. The town was holding a municipal election on June 6. According to the mayor, the attack did not disrupt any voting systems. “
“Spiller said it appears that the attack was by a criminal group that has similarly targeted other municipalities. He did not say if the city knows when the attack first began.“
“Federal and state law enforcement and Homeland Security are working to identify the source and the extent of the damage. Spiller said the township is focused on restoring affected services and has retained experts to assist it with recovery.“
