Jackson County officials warn residents of new phishing scam

“A scam in particular is targeting Planning Commission applicants in Jackson County via email. “

“Officials say a fake invoice is being sent requesting Planning Commission applicants to transfer large sums of money via wire payment as compensation for various items. “

“Officials urge the public to be aware that the planning department is not sending these and ask everyone to protect themselves from phishing scams, data theft, and malware infections.“
