Crow Wing County handles cyber attack

“Cybercriminals are preying on residents in the lakes area and recently a source in Russia attempted an attack on Crow Wing County.“

“County Administrator Deborah Erickson told the board Tuesday, Feb. 25, there was a cyber attack the previous week. “

““In fact, just under 3,000 hits on our VPN that all generated from a source that was identified in Russia,” Erickson said. “It was not successful. However, one of the things that it did do was we put a lot of focus into cyber security. We put a lot of focus into security as a whole in our organization, and so the team did take the initiative to take that VPN down.” “
