320’s PowerSchool hit by hackers

“USD 320 was one of the multitude of school districts affected by a Jan. 7 PowerSchool hack, according to Superintendent Rob McKim. “

“The district was notified by its cybersecurity insurance company on Jan. 9. “

“The superintendent explained that user schools had two choices in storing the information – either on local servers and on PowerSchool servers. Wamego uses the latter. “However it didn’t matter,” he said, “because of the way the hack happened. Schools hosting their own and hosted by PowerSchool both got hacked.” “
