Blaine County emergency alert system hacked

“Blaine County’s emergency alert platform, CodeRED, was the victim of an organized cyber attack, potentially compromising user data including names, addresses, emails, phone numbers and CodeRED passwords. “

“Blaine County was notified that CodeRED was down two weeks ago, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, and notified of the data breach Friday, said Blaine County Emergency Manager Chris Corwin in a Tuesday call. Blaine County notified residents on its website Monday and posted the information to the Blaine County Facebook page on Tuesday. “

“Users are advised to stay vigilant and watch for suspicious activity in personal accounts as well as look out for unusual calls, texts or emails. Additionally, if a user’s CodeRED password is used for any other accounts, the user is advised to change these passwords immediately. “
