“On June 3, a hacker gained access to Jesup, Ga.-based Wayne Memorial Hospital's network, encrypted some of its data and left a ransom note on the network, the hospital said in a notice.“
“Wayne Memorial subsequently disconnected access to its network and took some of its IT systems offline, restoring the network from data backups.“
“The hacker claimed to have copied certain files, but the hospital said it is still trying to determine whether the cybercriminal accessed personal information or was just trying to extort a ransom payment. “
