Vero Beach Utilities Department hacked by Iranian group CyberAv3ngers on Thanksgiving

“The city Utility Department was remotely hacked early Thanksgiving morning by an Iranian hacker group targeting Israeli-manufactured equipment.“

“CyberAv3ngers, the hacker group, has been hacking utility departments across the United States, targeting equipment known as programmable logic controllers. The local attack was the first of its kind in the United States, the FBI told Vero Beach police, according to Water and Sewer Director Robert Bolton. “

“"All they did was kind of take over the screen ... it became a red screen with 'You've been hacked,'" Bolton said. "And more or less said that they were the CyberAv3ngers and any Israeli-made product is our legal target. That's all that happened." “
