“A phishing attack on New Haven Public Schools’ (NHPS) email system targeted students’ accounts — and succeeded in convincing several students to turn over their personal banking information. “
“School district spokesperson Justin Harmon reported the incident on Nov. 19 after the schools community was notified via email, SMS, and voicemail of the attack. “
“According to the district’s public notice of the incident, NHPS recently confirmed a “sophisticated” phishing attack that utilized at least four “compromised” student accounts to send mass emails to more than half of the student body. “
