Ransomware gang steals employee data from high-tech manufacturer, suit says

“The notorious ransomware gang Hunters International has stolen the personal and financial information of current and former employees of aerospace and transportation composite manufacturer The Gill Corp. in a data breach that could have been prevented, a class-action lawsuit alleges.“

“The suit, filed Oct. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, says the group hacked the company in late June, exfiltrating 250 gigabytes of information. “

“Based in El Monte, California, Gill Corp. makes composite products for companies such as Boeing, FedEx, SpaceX, Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin. It has more than 800 employees, the complaint says. “

“The breach could have been avoided had Gill Corp. followed Federal Trade Commission guidelines and industry standards. The company "failed to adequately train its employees on cybersecurity and failed to maintain reasonable security safeguards or protocols," the complaint says. “
