PSAPs are always at risk for an attack, even on holidays. This past Thanksgiving, a very publicized phishing attack successfully shut down San Francisco’s ability to collect fares for their Municipal Transit Agency, allowing free rides for customers, and likely costing the city millions of dollars. Meanwhile, and with far less public scrutiny, one of our country’s PSAPs was hit by the very same hacker.
